Holly received a B.S. in biology and immediately after graduation began a career in graphic arts and design. She studied fine art for a time at the University of New Mexico, and, after moving to San Diego decided that the city needed its own boutique video store. In February of 2006 she founded Citizen Video, a video store specializing in foreign and independent film and giving voice to those filmmakers who vision is often neglected in popular culture. The Festival received over 400 submissions this year from around the world, and will showcase about 100 of these films, offering a diverse selection of features, shorts and documentaries that compete for both Judge and Audience awards. <br /><br />The independent films highlight positive messages about relevant social issues, including ethnicity, class, culture, race and gender.
